This month will be a slight departure from my usual monthly report, instead it will be my annual Secretary's report:
LPF Secretary Update to the LPF Constituents - Annual Business Meeting, June 7, 2025
Good morning everyone,
As your Secretary, I want to start by acknowledging the incredible dedication of our members. Many of you have put forth tremendous effort, especially over the last few years, to help LPF continue its work.
However, we are at a critical point where we must face some hard truths:
- We have seen turnover in our EC every single month.
- Every single one of our DALs has been replaced.
- Every Officer position aside from Secretary has changed since the January 2024 LPF Convention.
- Each EC resignation requires official notification to the Department of Elections.
Many of our committees are struggling:
- Most operate with only 2–3 members.
- Some don’t meet regularly at all.
- Platform has just one member.
- Affiliate Support, Legislative Action, Membership, and Audit are struggling to meet quorum or even convene.
Why We Need Structural Reform
We’ve had motions for the past two years to shrink the size of the EC, met with resistance due to fears of centralizing power. But this is not about centralization—it’s about protecting our most active volunteers from burnout and ensuring we have a board that actually works.
Recommended Changes:
- Reduce the EC to 17 Members
With constant turnover, a 21-member EC is not sustainable. This reduction will help us prioritize quality over quantity and ensure we have members who are genuinely engaged in our mission.
- Require Regional Representatives to Live in Their Region
This change will:
- Protect the integrity of the EC
- Ensure direct connection and engagement with the counties they represent
- Prevent bad actors from exploiting the system
- Merge Redundant Committees
The Rules Committee proposes:
- Merge Legislative Action Committee with Platform Committee
- Merge Affiliate Support with Membership Committee
These mergers will:
- Streamline operations
- Reduce redundancy
- Allow better use of resources
- Help Platform focus on outward engagement
- Empower Membership to better support affiliates
The Need for Active Participation
We continue to have seat fillers on the EC. One recent Region Rep didn’t check their email for three months—missing a major motion, membership emails, and more.
If you want to keep 14 regions and a large EC, ask yourself: Are you willing to serve?
We need people who will:
- Expand membership
- Help form new affiliates
- Host liberty events and meetups
- Attend city council meetings
- Write articles for the LPF site
Proposed New Regions:
- Region 1: Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Bay
- Region 2: Jackson, Calhoun, Gulf, Gadsden, Liberty, Franklin, Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor
- Region 3: Hamilton, Suwannee, Lafayette, Dixie, Gilchrist, Columbia, Union, Bradford, Alachua
- Region 4: Baker, Nassau, Duval, Clay, St. Johns
- Region 5: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando
- Region 6: Levy, Marion, Citrus, Sumter, Polk
- Region 7: Putnam, Flagler, Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Osceola
- Region 8: Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, DeSoto, Highlands, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Glades
- Region 9: Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Hendry
- Region 10: Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee
Closing
Please understand: this isn’t a power grab. It’s a call to action.
We must build a board that is:
- Lean
- Efficient
- Committed to liberty
Let’s make these reforms so that our board reflects the values, energy, and dedication of our best volunteers.
Thank you.
