Region 14 report - November 2021
Using September 2021 voter registration numbers:
Miami-Dade County LPF 2,253 from 2,248 (net +5). Compared to 2,161 in July this represents a 4.25% increase.
Munroe County LPF 249 from 247 (net +2). Compared to 217 in July this represents a 14.75% increase.
Activities:
Attended Miami-Dade affiliate meeting on Nov. 9th. Reported on LPF business and upcoming EC meeting information.
A meeting of Miami Libertarians was hosted in support of the local affiliate, the Rothbardian Circle of Miami (and former Miami affiliate chair Robert Fernandez) and the Mises Caucus as a potluck and welcoming party of Clint Russell who recently moved to South Florida from California.
I am in the planning stages to have a social gathering of members in Munroe county with permission from the affiliate chair.
There have been 1 leads generated from LPF/LNC websites this month that was forwarded to be by the Chair.
I did submit a personal note to the LNC Judicial Committee to consider in their deliberations of whether to uphold the suspension of the LNC Secretary. The point of the note was to ask them to recognize the explicit legal requirements involved in recognizing a proxy. The majority opinion did respond but only to not answer the question and somehow claim that 50 years of tradition means we can do that. If I had the opportunity to follow up, I would have explained further than years before, the LNC was organized as a voluntary association but has since become an incorporate non-profit and as such agreed to follow certain state laws to enjoy the tax benefits and legal protections. In other words, the needs for an explicit requirement to recognize a proxy vote at in person meeting of the LNC went unanswered except according to tradition it was allowed to be recognized. I suggest the LNC national convention consider a bylaw change to bring the bylaws in line with state law that have this requirement.
