Post by: Region8 on December 17, 2021, 06:13:05 PM
Hernando County
No activity in Hernando County

Pasco County
I now have two individuals looking to step up soon (Both transplants from other states) to start coordinating with me in organizing events and getting people involved.

Pinellas County
Pinellas will be holding their county convention on 1/20/2021 at 7pm. The entire leadership team is up for election, plus 3 new at large representatives per the change in their bylaws at their 2021 convention.

Hillsborough County
Motion to disaffiliate pending for the 12/19/2021 meeting.

Polk County
I would like to provide to the EC the following report on the outcomes of our support of the Sunfest420 event in Plant City last month.

The main victory was talking to hundreds of people, and getting information from 124 of them. We did this by raffling off 5 "water pipes" purchased by volunteers. Only information we required was a name and number to enter, but almost everyone gave us more, including email addresses and what county they lived in. We didn't raise any money because we weren't charging any admission fees or selling anything.

We met people from Hillsborough, Polk, Pinellas, Pasco, Marion, Brevard, Martin, Seminole, Lake, Sarasota, Volusia, Citrus, Hernando and Orange County – all of whom would make great contacts, particularly around efforts to legalize marijuana.

Allison Kelly was there, so she got to speak a little bit about her campaign. We also met up with Dontavious Smile, who's running for County Commisioner, as well as two organizers from Decriminalize Nature - a group dedicated to drug (mainly marijuana and mushrooms) decriminalization in Florida. Of course, I got their phone numbers as well.

Shoutout to Matt Crowley from Polk and Adam Whitworth from Manatee for being there with all day, both days and helping us set up and break down both times.

Also need to thank Rachel Hix and Sarah Ott from Pinellas, Josh Douglas and Alison Kelly from Polk, and Azalea Rodriguez from Manatee for donating their time to volunteer.

Can't forget about Brett Bittner and Brian Stevens who deserve some credit for being an enormous help behind the scenes, recruiting volunteers and proving material support.

And last but not least, want to thank the entire EC, but particularly J Mark Barfield, who coordinated delivery of the LPF canopy on such short and in record time.

Polk county will be having their annual convention in January as well. All the officer positions are up for election, as well as some changes to the governing documents.
