Motion:
I move to authorize the financial request of $3,800 for the Legislative Action Committee to retain a Legislative Consulting Services adviser
Discussion:
The cost of services would be as follows:
1. Retainer Fee
Price: $600.00
2. Bill Tracking & Alerts: The adviser will research, track and report proposed legislation as it moves through the legislative process and provide you with talking points and up-to-the-minute legislative alerts to keep you informed and ready to take action.
Price: 5 bills @ $200.00 each; Total: $1,000.00
3. Lobby Days: The adviser will organize your group’s “Day at the Capitol”. They will schedule legislative appointments so that you are meeting the right people to influence legislation. They will guide you through the Capitol and explain the legislative process.
Price: $1,500.00
4. Legislative Training Seminars: The adviser will conduct training seminars throughout the year, and you can contact them to schedule one for your group. The most popular seminars include:
- “How to Influence Public Policy”
- “Understanding the Legislative Process”
- “Review of Current Legislation in Tallahassee”
Price: 2 seminars @ $100.00 plus mileage; Total: $200.00 plus mileage
5. Individual Bill Analysis (for bills that are not included in the five bills): If there is a bill filed in the Florida Legislature and you want to better understand the bill, the adviser can prepare an in-depth, detailed understanding of the legislation, bill sponsors, committee referrals, and where the bill is in the legislative process.
Price: 8 bills @ $50.00; Total Price: $400.00
6. Conference Calls with Legislative Committee: The adviser will provide legislative updates and answer questions on the legislative process.
Price: 2 @ $50.00 Total Price: $100.00
Final Total for all services requested: $3,800.00 (not including mileage for traveling to conduct Seminars.)
