Title: Platform Report July 2021
Post by: platform on July 17, 2021, 12:13:27 AM
The Platform Committee for this term has elected to continue the precedent set by the committee last term in meeting on a continuous basis in our respective channel on Discord. All committee members currently have access and have participated in discussion. To ensure our best efficiency and productivity, I have established ground rules in the channel for preferred time-limits on votes and a format for discussion with the members of the committee; these rules are not set in stone and are amendable by the members.

The Platform Committee will observe public notice requirements for our official meetings as mandated in Florida law. Prior to our being able to post this public notice, we look to the Executive Committee to resolve a conflict within our current rules which may interfere with this and with the ability of party members to observe committee meetings; this issue is included in a motion which is on the agenda for the EC meeting on the 18th.
Depending on how the EC votes on this, we expect to be able to hold official votes in our committee after that time.
I am pleased to report that our committee has already begun work, in an unofficial and non-binding discussion-only format, beginning with the Preamble to the Platform. As of press time, we have moved into Article I.

The participation rate from the members of our committee has been 100% thus far.

I set about this past month in designing and posting on my social media accounts images containing textual planks of the current platform, which could be used by the party and its affiliates and its members to grab and share on their social media. This has sparked a joint-venture with Communications; thank-you to Mr. Barfield and his team. I'd like to give Mr. Sanders a nod of appreciation for his work and insight on this project as well.

I participated in the unofficial LPF committee chairs conference call this month. Moving forward, I would like to see a more organized meeting format; time-caps on each committee discussion, perhaps including moving follow-ups to the end of the meeting as to permit a rapid cycling-through of committees so one committee isn't kept waiting until the end of the call to deliver an update. This I leave up to the LPF Chairman to implement, naturally.

For the Platform Committee,

Chris Rose II, Chairman
