Title: June 2023 Convention Report
Post by: Treasurer on June 09, 2023, 09:26:11 AM
2023-24 Vision Deck Goals:
Work on convention preparation tw years out, with the next EC convention committee embracing both the 2024 and 2025 conventions simultaneously.

The committee has been working diligently to come up with venues to host both the
2024 and 2025 conventions.  We have compiled a list of approximately 22 venues from
around the state and narrowed the list to 6 that I plan to review Monday, June 12th at    8:30PM EST here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87267787370?pwd=QlNoU1pGRmlhZFZLK1lSZk53QVJKUT09

Once we have feedback from EC and other members of the LPF we will compile contracts for the best two venues to propose to the EC officially.  After we secure a 2024 venue and turn our attention to selecting a venue for 2025.

Create a 4-year plan for convention locations.

We have discussed briefly how we would like to see a rotation work, but nothing definitive has been selected.

Increase production value while promoting a quality, profitable, and entertaining convention.

Mr. Marc Golob has joined the committee and I’m confident his expertise will improve the quality of production.  We have also begun discussing what events/speakers we could do to maximize profits without compromising on entertainment value.

Transparency and communication with the Executive Committee in preparation for the 2024-25 conventions.

I’ve moved all committee conversations to the LPF Discord so all our communications and meetings can be viewed/reviewed by any member of the EC or LPF.  I’ve also set up a meeting to get feedback from EC members regarding the selection process of venues.

Address books for speakers including contact info, available to LPF affiliates for easy event networking.

We have started a google sheet where we are tracking speakers' responses to our Speaker Request Form that should contain all the information needed from LPF or the affiliates to assess if a speaker fits their needs/budget.

Summary of work:

The Convention Committee has held two meetings so far and narrowed down a large list of venues to about 6 options.  We believe hosting the convention this year in the end of January or beginning of February makes the most sense to give our National Delegates maximum amount of time to plan/prepare to attend the LPN Convention in Washington DC in May of 2024. We’ve also begun discussion on moving to an electronic voting method, what speakers we should bring in, and what events/speakers would be most attractive to our attendees.
