Resolution on the Elimination of All Affirmative Action Programs
Whereas, the Libertarian Party of Florida upholds the principles of individual liberty, limited government intervention, and equal protection under the law,
Whereas, affirmative action programs, which grant preferential treatment based on race, gender, or other group characteristics, are viewed as discriminatory and a violation of individual rights,
Whereas, such programs distort market dynamics, hinder free competition, and undermine the principles of meritocracy and voluntary exchange,
Whereas, equal treatment under the law is paramount to fostering a society that values individualism, personal responsibility, and voluntary associations,
Whereas, the Supreme Court's ruling on race-conscious admissions programs at Harvard and the University of North Carolina provides an opportunity to address the broader issue of affirmative action,
Be it resolved by the Libertarian Party of Florida:
1. The Libertarian Party of Florida supports the complete elimination of affirmative action programs in all areas of the market, including but not limited to college admissions, employment, government contracts, and licensing.
2. The Libertarian Party of Florida asserts that individuals should be evaluated and treated based on their qualifications, abilities, and individual characteristics, rather than being subject to government-imposed preferences or penalties based on race, gender, or other group identities.
3. The Libertarian Party of Florida opposes any form of government intervention that distorts market dynamics and hampers the free exchange of goods, services, and opportunities by favoring certain groups over others.
4. The Libertarian Party of Florida recognizes that free markets, devoid of government interference and based on voluntary interactions, provide the best means for promoting innovation, economic growth, and equal opportunity for all individuals.
5. The Libertarian Party of Florida encourages private businesses, educational institutions, and other organizations to adopt voluntary and merit-based diversity initiatives, outreach programs, and scholarship opportunities to promote inclusivity and equal access to opportunities.
6. The Libertarian Party of Florida urges individuals and organizations to engage in open dialogue, public discourse, and education to address issues of diversity, equality, and inclusion in a manner that respects individual rights, fosters mutual understanding, and values the richness of individual differences.
