Motion:
I move to amend Article XIII, Section 2 of the LPF's Standing Rules to strike the phrase “formally to endorse statewide candidates for political office” and replace the text to read instead “formally to endorse candidates in the state of Florida who are on the ballot for federal, state, or local political office”.
Discussion:
Currently our Standing Rules authorizes for the formal endorsement of “statewide candidates for political office”; This wording thus limits the LPF to only allow for the endorsement of LPF candidates running for political office in statewide elections. This amendment would allow for the LPF to endorse any LPF candidate for political office, regardless if they are running in a nationwide, statewide, or regional/local election. This amendment would also allow the LPF to provide more value to it's candidates for political office, as endorsements are valuable to candidates to present to voters and as a show of support for candidates from the party.
