Next Meeting: March 28, 2022 (second and fourth Mondays at 8pm)

2022-23 Candidates Committee Action Plan

The current members are (as of March 20, 2022):
Jim Turney
Hector Roos
Adam Whitworth
James Earwood
Matt Johnson
Marcus Reeder
James Earwood (Guest)

2022 Vision Deck:
• Creating a more robust committee of 8-10+ active members are needed

• Creating guides for candidates, campaign managers, treasurers, and other staff. Including a Quick Start Guide for candidates

• Operation First Step 2.0:includes constant communication between the LPF and Affiliates in a partnership to support our candidates and field local candidates for non-partisan office

• Build a candidate pipeline to higher level positions,we are not the Soil & Water board Party

• A post-election survey of all candidates to learn what went well, and what we can do better, to learn and grow for the future instead of starting off on square one

• Quarterly in person candidate trainings

• Conduct research on opportunity races across the State to recommend to affiliates and candidates for low hanging fruit wins

2022 Vision Deck SMART Goals:
• 10 appointed public officials to local boards

• 20 LPF members joining local civic groups

• 20 candidates in live training events

• 3-5 candidates on LNC’s eCanvasser deal

• 10 public officials re-elected (currently have only 7 elected officials in Florida; see below)

• All candidates to do better than expected

• Assist candidates in creating a campaign plan

• Submit LPF newsletter articles

• Achieve a 50% win rate for 2022

Focused SMART Goals:
1) Campaign Bootcamp (next one slates for Jacksonville): This is a continuation of existing program

2) Petition Tree: Goal: Commit 1500 libertarians to sign petitions for the next 3 months for our candidates and continue to grow this list after. Use this program as a feeder for candidates and interested in helping candidates. Incorporate emailing PDF petitions to our list that can be printed, signed and mailed back, since any voter can sign candidate petitions for legislative races this year. Proposed new website VoteLPF.org to serve as a recruitment funnel with data archived in Google Drive.

3) Candidate Pipeline (list development): Take any interest from people to run for office and assign them to 3 paths (one at a time or concurrently): operation first step (join civic boards), run for something (less than 1 year), and parajump (at least 2 years out). We should maintain a private internal database of appointments. This is a very important initiative to build a bench for successful campaigns in my view.

4) Identify local election opportunities, especially elections not in Nov of even numbered years (due to voter guides and large turnout for high profile elections), a try to recruit and prepare candidates.

5) Short term objective: Motivate early arrival for all FL delegates to Reno to register for Thursday, May 26 training Day of Education. https://lnc2022.com/event/2022-day-of-education-2022-05-26/.

6) Develop and implement a standard response process to candidate enquiries/form submissions.
