Libertarian Party of Florida Executive Committee Meeting
October 17, 2021

Title: Motion to approve $1,500 in expenditures for a 2021 LPF Holiday Party

Mover : Josh Hlavka

Motion: I move to approve $1,500 in expenditures for a Holiday Party for the Libertarian Party of Florida (LPF) scheduled for Saturday, December 11th, 2021. This event will be held at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2267 in Tamarac, FL.

The purpose of the event is political fundraising and entertainment. There will be at least one candidate in attendance speaking at the event, and there will be a screening of a documentary on the effects of the 2020 lockdowns on small business owners.

The ticketed portion of the event will include a guest speaker and Holiday Party, to include food, drinks, and gift bags.

This will be a test for the LPF’s ability to hold events to attract LPF members for the purposes of fundraising outside of the Convention and Annual Business Meeting.

The reserved room can comfortably hold 50 people. With $50 planned ticket prices, a full room would gross $2,500. The expected expenditures are $1,500, including room, drinks, food, expenses for speaker, speaker fee, speaker accommodation, AV, gift bags, decorations, and targeted direct mail marketing. The event needs 30 tickets sold to break even.

Potential sponsors will be contacted to help defray costs. There will be additional fundraising “asks” through the direct mail invitation campaign and during the event.

With this event, we should get good data regarding expected attendance, ticket costs, and fundraising expectations in order to plan future events.
