Report on the LPF Rules Committee
December 19, 2021
The Rules Committee meets continuously in the committee Discord channel.
The committee will focus now on the creation of the Rules packet, due in late January. We cannot promise to take on any additional tasks before that is complete, but we encourage the submission of ideas for possible incorporation into the packet.
While a reduction in the Committee Chairman's commitments to non-political organizations did provide significantly more time for the LPF since our last report, much of that time was consumed by other LPF responsibilities, primarily a new project to automate partially the processing of historical contact data.
The committee vice chair has worked with the Affiliate Support Committee to propose improvements to the sample governing documents. The committee chairman joined the most recent Affiliate Support Committee meeting to discuss suggested improvements to the sample governing documents under consideration by that committee. That committee has voted to transfer those documents to Rules for review. While that review will be subordinate to the production of the Rules packet for convention, it will likely interact with that process, and may finish with the production of the Rules packet.
The committee chairman continues research toward an amendment to LPF Constitution Article II, Section 4 more explicitly to allow affiliates to choose a precinct delegate structure for their executive committee. The committee's draft response is not yet complete.
Regards,
Tony Sellers,
Rules Committee Chairman
