Executive Committee Report - March 20, 2022
The LPF Rules Committee conducted its first meeting on March 16, 2022 at 6:38pm in the LPF Discord Meeting Room 1.
Determination of Quorum
Members Present: Greg Peele (Chair), Omar Recuero, Matthew Horvath
Quorum Met (Majority of Elected Members Required, 3 / 3 present)
Business Conducted
- Elected Omar Recuero as Rules Vice-Chair (3-0 vote)
- Elected Matthew Horvath as Rules Secretary (3-0 vote)
- Created task plan for auditing LPF Constitution starting with 2018 baseline to ensure all amendments have been incorporated
- Will present document with markup of exact changes (additions, deletions) made attributed to each motion from ABM minutes for appropriate year
- Will review ABM minutes for each year to verify all passed motions were incorporated into constitution
- Will present final document after all changes for Secretary to certify and direct Communications to post on website
- Will compare with existing documents provided by prior Rules Committee
- Discussed future work to audit LPF Bylaws and Standing Rules
- Same procedure will work for bylaws, but no comparison documents exist from prior Rules Committee
- Standing Rules will require more effort to review minutes since every Executive Committee meeting may have potentially amended them
- Discussed creating educational materials such as a FAQ (ideally partnering with Affiliate Support Committee) to inform county affiliates of responsibilities under Florida statute and LPF Constitution for common compliance items
- Motions recommitted to Rules by 2022 ABM and new Rules proposals will be put on hold until existing 2022 LPF Constitution and Bylaws are audited and published
- Set regular meeting schedule to 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm
- Committee will operate continuously on Discord in between meetings
Other Activities
- Conducted campaign finance training session for Treasurer Rich Perez on March 6
- Provided advisory opinion that Chris Jones is eligible to be appointed to fill the vacancy as Region 4 Representative because NOTA did not win a majority of votes cast during the LPF Annual Business meeting
