July 2023 Convention Report
« on: July 06, 2023, 10:38:05 PM »
2023-24 Vision Deck Goals:
Work on convention preparation tw years out, with the next EC convention committee embracing both the 2024 and 2025 conventions simultaneously.
We are presenting 3 venue options Sunday, July 9th to the EC to deliberate for the 2024 venue, and plan to review once that is settled to determine if any of the options previously discussed/researched would be worth following up with as 2025 options. Goal is to announce the 2025 venue at the 2024 Convention at the latest.  The Committee is recommending that the EC choose the Jacksonville option.

Create a 4-year plan for convention locations.
We are working on developing a hybrid rotation that will hopefully appease most members.  The idea would be to rotate locations but still keep the travel to a reasonable distance.

Increase production value while promoting a quality, profitable, and entertaining convention.
With Mr. Golob’s health issues we are going to need to reassess where we stand with A/V support.  I still believe we are on track to have a great convention that will leave our attendees pleased and still get back in the black financially in 2024.

Transparency and communication with the Executive Committee in preparation for the 2024-25 conventions.
We will continue to host all of our communications on the LPF Discord open to review and comment from the EC.  I am also open to meeting with any EC member to discuss any issues.

Address books for speakers including contact info, available to LPF affiliates for easy event networking.
We have created a Google Sheet that we are tracking all this info and can share it with affiliates upon request. Due to sensitive contact information we are not releasing this to anyone but the EC, affiliate Chairs, or upon request from the EC.

Summary of work:
We have continued to work through narrowing down the list of venues. We are pleased to be presenting three quality options for the EC to review and potentially choose from.

Lisa has taken charge of beginning the process of reaching out to potential speakers and started to deliberate who would make the most sense to entertain our attendees and maintain a positive cashflow.

We are looking at hosting a presidential candidate debate with Gene Epstein as moderator, hosting a candidate/activist training, and potentially a comedy show.
